LeBron and Bronny James make history

Before the Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener, LeBron James offered his son Bronny some motivating words, helping them both take a historic step together in the NBA. As the Lakers faced the Timberwolves, LeBron and Bronny became the first father-son duo to play in an NBA game together, fulfilling LeBron’s dream of sharing the court with his eldest son.

Bronny, drafted by the Lakers in the second round, received a warm reception from the crowd. His first shot, a 3-pointer, fell just short, but he brought energy and hustle to his debut performance. LeBron finished the game with 16 points, adding a dunk and key plays to secure the Lakers’ 110-103 victory.

The pair were supported courtside by the Griffeys—Ken Sr. and Ken Jr., who made MLB history as a father-son team in the early 90s—emphasizing the significance of family milestones in sports. After the game, LeBron and Bronny shared a heartfelt moment with their family, marking a special achievement for the James legacy in the NBA.

LeBron’s wish to play alongside Bronny, which began years ago, came true following Bronny’s challenging journey, which included a health scare and a successful freshman season at USC. Now, with LeBron’s leadership and Bronny’s fresh talent, the Lakers look to make their mark this season while this unique father-son chapter unfolds.

Jokic stops at four points with five shots

Coming out of four straight losses across the 2024 NBA Preseason schedule, the Denver Nuggets bounced back with a 132-126 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Target Center on Thursday.

Nikola Jokic was limited to four points in the preseason finale for the team coached by Michael Malone. The Serbian superstar made 2/5 two-pointers and missed two free throws. Besides a poor scoring showing, he piled up seven assists, seven rebounds, three assists, and one block over 28 minutes.

In European teammates coming off the bench, Croatian Dario Saric chipped in 13 points and five rebounds, and Slovenian Vlatko Cancar paired nine points with three assists.

On the losing end, naturalized Bosnian Luka Garza starting instead of resting French center Rudy Gobert scored a team-high 29 points with 11/17 field goals. Dutch Jesse Edwards logged 14 points.

“I know how rare this kind of opportunity comes, especially like this. A chance to start against the best player in the world, it is an awesome opportunity,” Garza referred to matching up with Jokic.
